  • Anatomy and Physiology: Understanding of the circulatory system and vein anatomy: Labelling the anatomy of veins, assessing & selecting suitable sizes for venepuncture, and identifying sites to be avoided.
  • Describe the scenarios not  to take blood -Identify situations where venipuncture may contra indicated  or precautions need to be taken, such as  when the patient has compromised veins or is at risk of bleeding
  • Blood Collection Techniques: Methods for venipuncture, capillary puncture, and handling of specimens.
  • Order Of Draw- Explain the order of draw and its importance–Learn about the proper sequence of collecting different types of blood tubes and its significance in preventing sample contaminator  or interference
  • Safety and Compliance: Training in infection control, patient identification, and legal aspects of blood collection.
  • Equipment Handling: Proper use of needles, syringes, tourniquets, and other phlebotomy tools and list equipment require venepuncture.
  • Patient Interaction: Techniques for calming patients, managing difficult draws, and ensuring patient comfort.
